"O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple."
Psalm 48:9 New Living Translation
Even though singing songs and making music, melodies unto the Lord is the most visible, most expressive way of worship, still worship has so much more in itself. As this verse from Psalm 48 says worship in itself involves very practical activity called meditation. As we worship God in His Temple we are encouraged to think, to meditate, to remind ourselves, to dwell on His unfailing love, His character, His personality, His faithfulness, to meditate on who He is.
It is out of that place of meditation that we worship God. It is out of that place of active thinking that our heart is being moved to respond in worship to who He is through songs and melodies. It is out of that place of meditation that our soul is being stirred up to give our all and pour out ourselves before Him.
So how we do that practically?
In order to really get involved with worship with all of our heart, mind and soul we are to first fill our heart, mind and soul with the Word of God. We have to consume the Word until it becomes part of us that then overflows from our hearts. We read the word, we speak the word, we pray the word, we sing the word, we declare it....by doing this we will be move from a place of meditation to the place of worship and other way around and all of this made possible by simply being centered around the Word of God and God's heart and personality!!!
Beautiful post Igor. I am in the midst of writing the March bimonthly newsletter (Kingdom Advances 40-70CEE)for Central and Eastern Europe that will come out shortly after the 15th.. I attended the 2008 GDOP meeting in Skopje and was blessed to see how great the prayer movement was dong then. Seven Balkan nations participated. How has it gone since? I would love to have a story on what has happened since then. If the story is long, please provide it with a link, perhaps in this blog. My email address is rwbullard@fastmail.us.
